While Liverpool aren’t doing much on the buying front, they have a sale in the works behind the scenes that might need to happen in January.
The Reds are approaching this transfer window without huge intentions of shaking up the squad.
Of course, the Marc Guehi links to Liverpool are dominating the news, with a few more deals being made for youngsters to bolster the ranks.

But it’s another player who has been discussed more and more amid struggles out on loan.
Liverpool desperate to sell Harvey Elliott
12 months ago, the idea of Liverpool offloading Harvey Elliott would have been preposterous, but it’s clear that Arne Slot doesn’t want him in the squad.
Having played for two European clubs already this season, Elliott has been linked to the MLS amid concerns over his fit at Anfield.

And the latest from David Lynch (via Sports Mole) is that the Reds want to make it happen.
He says: ““On Harvey Elliott, it doesn’t feel like there’s an appetite for a reintroduction to the squad midway through this season if I’m being honest.
“I think, you know, those links that are coming up to MLS are really interesting and potentially show that Liverpool are just desperately working to find solutions for him to somewhere he can go and don’t really plan to reintegrate him in the squad.

“Which, for me is a shame because I think, you know, he’s been a really good player for Liverpool down the years and has won trophies and has been a big part of those, but obviously it’s just not the fit now and clearly he needs to find somewhere that will be a permanent home for him going forward. So it doesn’t seem like he’s going to get reintegrated.”
He reckons an Elliott sale is a matter of when, not if. Villa aren’t interested in keeping him, and Liverpool feel the same.
Fulham have a hefty sell-on clause for Harvey Elliott
You might recall the drama that was attached to Elliott’s initial move from Fulham, whereby Liverpool had to pay £1.5 million despite his contract at Craven Cottage expiring.
On top of that fee was £3 million in add-ons and a 20% sell-on clause.

A fee of £35 million has been mooted for the 22-year-old, which would mean £7 million to his old club.
That’s a hit Liverpool won’t mind taking in their quest to resolve the Elliott situation — whether you agree is a different story.
