The defender continues to be monitored closely by multiple clubs.
Marc Guehi’s situation has been widely reported for many months now.
Moments away from a transfer to Liverpool in the summer, the deal collapsed at the final hurdle and the Palace captain resumed his duties in London.
He is played exceptionally well this season, leading to him grabbing the attention of not only the Premier League’s biggest clubs, but also Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Liverpool are still very much in the race for the defender, but after coming so close to signing him in the summer, they will now face much fiercer competition if they are to push to sign him.
As we know, Marc Guehi’s contract with Crystal Palace will expire in the summer and he will not sign a new deal.
However, Crystal Palace manager has conceded that a departure could be on the cards for January, as the club look to make some money off the player, rather than let him leave for free.
Manchester City have expressed concrete interest in Marc Guehi recently and are pushing to secure a move.
The situation at the club has escalated with recent long-term injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.
However, a new transfer twist has emerged.
According to The Athletic’s Sam Lee, Manchester City are actually behind Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for the Crystal Palace defender.
Speaking on the Let Me Talk podcast, he said: “On Monday night, I was told by somebody who knows what’s going on at City, but also I think probably Palace as well, he said he thinks Guehi wants to stay until the summer and he prefers Liverpool [to City] in any case.”
“Somebody else messaged me on X and I know he’s very good on other club stuff, he was like: ‘Yeah, he wants to stay until the summer – and he prefers Liverpool and Arsenal’.’”
Arsenal are a recent addition to the list of admirers for Marc Guehi, and it remains to be seen whether they’ll make an approach for him.
They do currently boast the best defence in the league though, so a deal for them appears to make the least sense at present.
