AI predicts Chelsea’s January transfer business with some surprising results

Chelsea head into January with much uncertainty around the club following the recent exit of Enzo Maresca and arrival of new boss Liam Rosenoir.

The Blues remain in top four contention despite a poor run of just one win in seven league matches prior to the surprise sacking of the Italian, with a great chance of securing Champions League football still there for the taking.

Rosenior will be task with taking the Chelsea squad to a new level and will hope for new acquisitions in the January transfer window in order to help achieve this. The club are always looking for the next young stars ready to explode and we asked Grok AI who they could sign in what looks to be a busy January.

Grok made sure to emphasise that Chelsea may not need to recruit in January following a healthy summer transfer window, but cited a few key acquisitions which the Blues may decide to make if the right opportunity arises.

With a new midfielder to support Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez said to be a long-term target, Grok predicted that Chelsea could make a winter move for Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton. The 21-year-old England international was highly coveted throughout last year and a £60 million move for the midfielder has been touted, making for a significant reduction on the £100m price tags previously speculated.

Alongside Wharton, the AI stated that Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo ‘could be available on a cut-price £30m-£40m deal due to off-field issues’. The 20-year-old has found first-team minutes hard to come by this season and has been linked with Chelsea in the past, so could link up with former team-mate Alejandro Garnacho in a new start at Stamford Bridge.

In what would be a massive turn of events, Grok also touted a massive-money homecoming to Chelsea for former academy player Marc Guehi. The 25-year-old is thought to be on the move from Crystal Palace in 2026 and is no doubt what Chelsea need right now – but a predicted price tag of £60m-£80m would be quite astonishing for a player in the final six months of his contract, regardless of a possible bidding war.

Chelsea were also predicted to strengthen in goal with a new shot-stopper, in the shape of AC Milan’s Mike Maignan. Similarly to Guehi, the Frenchman is out of contract next summer, but the Blues could signal their intent with a January swoop for £50m. In addition, scouting of targets such as Rennes’ Jeremy Jacquet or Saint-Etienne’s Djylian N’Guessan is predicted, with future loans or Strasbourg integrations in mind.

In addition to the expensive incomings, Grok stated that outgoings will also ‘dominate’ for Chelsea with several big-money players seeking an exit.

Raheem Sterling is said to be a priority exit, with a London-based loan cited to a club such as Crystal Palace, Fulham or West Ham. Axel Disasi is also predicted to depart with interest from Roma and Ligue 1 clubs, though the Blues are said to prefer an outright £20m-£30m sale.

Mykhailo Mudryk could return as soon as January 17 according to reports, following his suspension due to doping allegations, and a loan move to Sevilla or Strasbourg has been touted as an option for the Ukrainian, who is unlikely to force his way back into the first-team set up straight away at Stamford Bridge.

Tyrique George may also depart after almost joining Fulham in the summer, while Filip Jorgensen, Benoit Badiashile and Tosin Adarabioyo are all predicted by Grok to exit the west London club either permanently or on loan in a major clear-out, in addition to youngsters Shim Mhueka, Deivid Washington and Sam Rak-Sakyi.
