Liverpool have until the deadline on Monday 2nd February to complete any incoming or outgoing transfer business

Liverpool have the chance to bring in some new players before the end of the January transfer window. They also have the opportunity to let some individuals leave over the coming weeks as well before the deadline. That would help free up space and funds in their squad.

The Reds are sat in 4th place in the Premier League table after 21 fixtures. They are inside the top four along with Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa. The Merseyside outfit are two points ahead of Brentford in 5th after their 0-0 draw with the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium last time out.

Liverpool attacker Federico Chiesa eyed by Juventus

As per a report by Italian news outlet TuttoJuve, Juventus are considering a loan with an obligation or option to buy Liverpool attacker Federico Chiesa. That would be a similar deal to Manchester United and Chelsea’s one for Jadon Sancho last season. The latter could have signed him for £25million after his temporary spell but had to pay £5million to get out of the arrangement in the end and he is now at Aston Villa.

Chiesa, 28, is under contract at Anfield until June 2028 meaning he still has over two years left to run down. However, he struggles for game time and is down the pecking order. He has made 20 appearances in all competitions in this campaign, 15 of which have come in the league, and he has chipped in with two goals and three assists.

Asked earlier this winter about Chiesa’s lack of action, Slot said: “Every player has a possibility to start but we have many options to start in his position. He has indeed had an impact coming off the bench a few times. I think every player is in my mind to start because we have so many good players.

“And Mo has been such an exceptional player for us. He’s always in my mind to either start or come on. Yes, of course (I understand the attention him not starting gets). Maybe he deserves that because he has been so influential for this club and for me and for his team-mates for seven years I think already. It’s completely normal. If I don’t play players who just come to the club, we’re already talking about it so it’s completely normal that people aren’t talking about it when he isn’t playing.”

What now for Federico Chiesa at Liverpool?

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Chiesa leave Liverpool at some point in the near future. His switch to England hasn’t really worked out and a departure would be good for him. Juventus could provide him with a change of scene over the coming months.

The Italy international, who has 51 caps to his name, started his career at Fiorentina and rose up through their academy. He was a regular for the Serie A side at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team as a youngster. Juventus then snapped him up in 2020.

He initially joined the Turin giants on loan before his transfer was later made permanent. The Genoa-born man went on to play 131 games and scored 32 goals. Liverpool came calling in 2024 and he helped them win the title last term under Arne Slot.
