If Liam Rosenior is to consider bringing any new signings to Chelsea this month, the chances are it will be to strengthen the defence with the Blues failing to plug the leak recently.
It has been seven games in all competitions without a clean sheet for Chelsea, and despite dominating territory and possession against Charlton on Saturday night, they still couldn’t keep a clean sheet.
Miles Leaburn scored from a corner after Lloyd Jones had lost marker Marc Guiu. Despite the best efforts of Filip Jorgensen, who could well save his Chelsea career under Liam Rosenior, Charlton got a goal.

Chelsea have a goalkeeper in Robert Sanchez who does have an error in him, while the club’s centre-backs are certainly the weak point of the side. Chelsea have been keeping tabs on a potential signing.
Carlo Ancelotti’s verdict on new Chelsea target Jacobo Ramon
If there is going to be a signing this month, as aforementioned, the chances are it will be a defender. The latest to be touted with a move to Chelsea is Como defender Jacobo Ramon, who is starring in Italy.

Having come through the Real Madrid academy under Carlo Ancelotti, he has helped Como keep eight clean sheets in his 16 Serie A outings, also scoring twice. Ancelotti praised Ramon at the end of last term.
“He’s a player who can be like Raúl Asencio. We consider him that way. He had long injuries. He’s a little shy, and that’s why he’s not shown his full potential yet, but he has the level to play for Real Madrid.”
How much would Chelsea need to spend to sign Ramon…
The issue with signing Ramon is not something the Spaniard can help, but it is that Chelsea need an older head at the back. A defender that the others can learn from in the same way they did under Thiago Silva.
If Chelsea only make one signing in January, who should it be?👀

Ramon is a defender with huge potential, and he’s thriving under the guidance of Cesc Fabregas, who bought Ramon for just £2m from Real Madrid in the summer. Now, Caught Offside say he’s worth £16m.
But if Real Madrid are interested in re-signing Ramon from Como in due course, they will only have to spend around £7m to get Ramon. Regardless, a £16m fee could be incredibly cheap given Ramon’s hype.
As things stand however, any business Chelsea are expected to do this month looks more likely to be outgoings. Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling will certainly be at the top of the potential departures.
