Liverpool enter race for Tottenham managerial target amid possible Arne Slot sacking in the…

Like Thomas Frank, Arne Slot has also come under pressure this season.

Pressure on Thomas Frank has been growing with every passing game as the Dane fights to keep his job at Hotspur Way. While we do believe that Tottenham should not take the Manchester United and Chelsea route and instead persist with the 52-year-old, the current situation means that the club have started lining up possible options in the event of his sack.

This has seen the officials in North London eyeing the managerial list, which includes former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi.

But as pressure around Arne Slot’s future at Anfield Stadium continues to grow as well, the Reds have also entered the race for De Zerbi.

Liverpool look at Roberto De Zerbi

Liverpool looking at Roberto De Zerbi

According to the latest report by TEAMtalk, the defending Premier League champions are possibly keeping a close eye on the 46-year-old as they (very much like Tottenham) continue to assess their managerial options as a frustrating campaign continues to unfold at L4.

With Liverpool at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification, the officials at Kirkby have started to bounce around the idea of possible replacements if Slot’s position at the helm should become vacant.

RDZ is already a household name around the English top tier given his spell at Brighton & Hove Albion. He took the league by storm with his attacking style and tactical flexibility during his time with the Seagulls. Having once interviewed for the Manchester United job, was recently reported to be one among the many candidates to potentially replace Frank.

The Lilywhites did look at De Zerbi when they were looking for someone to take over the reins from Ange Postecoglou. But negotiations with him never materialised, as the North Londoners went on to give the keys of Hotspur Way to Thomas Frank. But the former Brentford manager is having a difficult first season with his new employers, which has put him under heavy pressure. And if this doesn’t change, then you’d expect Tottenham to revisit the managerial market.

De Zerbi has a Man United preference

Alongside Liverpool and Tottenham, Manchester United also remain an interesting prospect. Managerless Manchester Reds sacked Ruben Amorim earlier this week, and they do have an interim coach. De Zerbi is understood to be one of the preferred candidates at M16. And while both Tottenham and Liverpool remain interesting prospects, the report states that RDZ would prefer a move to United instead.

What looks like a straight appointment for Man Utd could end up being a three-horse race in the coming weeks.
