Per Marc Stein, it might be unlikely that the Nets will trade Porter Jr. before the trade deadline.
As this season's Feb. 5 trade deadline is getting nearer, Michael Porter Jr. stands as one of the hottest names to monitor within the NBA's marketplace.
Brooklyn Nets / Schedule
Yet despite rumors that the star forward is guaranteed to be dealt, Marc Stein reported that the Brooklyn Nets might stick with Porter Jr.
"I have to share that I keep hearing pushback about the Nets' willingness to part with Porter before the offseason," the NBA insider reported. "So I'm genuinely struggling to call it with 25 days to go before the trade buzzer."
Porter Jr., who was acquired by the Nets last offseason from the Denver Nuggets, is in the midst of a career season. He is averaging 25.9 points, 7.4 boards and 3.4 assists in 29 games and is in contention for his first All-Star nod.
Amid Porter Jr.'s meteoric rise, there are questions surrounding his future in Brooklyn. The Nets remain focused on rebuilding and are currently 13-25 this regular season as one of the worst teams in the NBA.
Out of this, the Nets are clearly at a crossroads between capitalizing on current interest in Porter Jr. and committing to him as a long-term piece.
