Moritz Wagner reflects on NBA comeback after long injury recovery for Magic

Wagner is simply happy to return after a grinding ACL recovery process for Orlando.

After a long and demanding injury recovery, Moritz Wagner couldn’t be more ecstatic that he is finally back for the Orlando Magic.

“I honestly try to stay away from the emotional part, the best that I can. Just another day and then you have a game today," he said in the postgame of the Magic's 128-118 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. "Obviously it means a lot to me. I’m kind of relieved now. I got it over with, you know?

"I’m excited that we got it over with and now we just act like it never happened.”

After over a year of absence since suffering from a torn ACL in his left knee back in December 2024, Wagner suited up for the Magic this weekend.

He obtained a massive standing ovation from the KIA Center crowd as he checked in to the game off the bench, scoring 8 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, and dishing out 2 assists in 10 productive minutes.

“It’s awesome to see him back out there," the Magic star said. "I’m kind of the same ... I’m relieved that everything went well and he had a good game. Our whole family was nervous going into the day.

"Obviously, in the process you just want to be supportive and read where Moe’s mind is at and act accordingly and just help him out. So, [I’m] really happy that today went well.”
