Harrison Barnes appreciates the grind and readiness of the French star for the Spurs amid injuries and inconsistent roles on a nightly basis.
This season hasn't been an easy one for Victor Wembanyama, but Harrison Barnes and the San Antonio Spurs fully appreciate the franchise star's commitment.

Following the team's tight 104-103 loss in Minnesota against the Timberwolves, Barnes commended Wembanyama for staying ready for the Spurs despite injury absences and shifting roles.
"I think it's been definitely a challenge for him just navigating injuries this year," he said. "You're playing a lot. You go out, to minutes restriction, go out again on a mid restriction. So I think for him, it's not easy, kind of coming back from injury on back-to-back-to-back-to-backs.
"But I thought he did a great job. But just continue to be aggressive. Continue to progress and continue just trust himself. You know that we have a lot of trust in him."
Wembanyama has been swarmed by calf and knee injuries this season, prompting the Spurs to manage his workload and on-court exposure in each game cautiously.
Despite occasional inactivity and shifting roles as a reserve and starter, Wembanyama remained professional in leading the Spurs in whatever way he could. As a result, the Spurs are still achieving success with him. San Antonio currently stands as a Top 2 team in the West with a 27-12 record.
In the end, Barnes and the Spurs have their fingers crossed that Wembanyama will be injury-free for the rest of the way, as the franchise has a promising shot to contend in the latter portion of the season.
