Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icchelseanews that you may have missed.
Leo Castledine has left Chelsea and completed a permanent transfer to Championship club Middlesbrough, the Blues have officially announced on the club website this January transfer window
The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Joining our Academy in March 2020 as an Under-15 from AFC Wimbledon, Castledine was developed and featured the following season for our Under-18s while a schoolboy and captained the side regularly during the 2021/22 campaign.
‘He stepped up to play Under-21s football during the 2022/23 season and showcased his impressive versatility, playing in defence, midfield and in the frontline as we reached the Premier League 2 play-offs.
‘After a good start to the campaign that followed, Castledine was named on the first-team substitutes bench on several occasions. His debut came in a League Cup semi-final second leg victory over Middlesbrough, as he was introduced late on in a 6-1 victory for the Blues.
‘In August 2024, he joined Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan that was unfortunately cut short by injury the following January. He returned to League One at the start of this season with Huddersfield Town and produced several impressive performances for the Terriers, with 12 goals scored in 27 appearances.
‘We thank Leo for his efforts throughout his time at CHELSEA and wish him every success as he embarks on a new chapter in his career at Middlesbrough.’

Leo is a very talented lad that we had hoped could break into the first-team, so the news that he has now left the club on a permanent basis is such a shame, but a move to Middlesbrough is a very good one to make.
We are glad that he has joined a great League and wish him all the best of luck.
CHELSEA WANTS VAN DE VEN
Chelsea are eyeing up an ambitious move for Tottenham defender Mikey Van De Ven, who is stalling on a new contract at Spurs.
Tottenham may have won that Europa League title last season, but they have been one of the worst big teams in the Premier League for the last couple of years, and this campaign isnt any better.
their home form is terrible, they are conceding too many goals, they are scoring far too few and Spurs fans are so unhappy, that they are booing the players off the pitch on a weekly basis for not fighting enough under boss Thomas Frank.
That has led to all sorts of speculation and rumours in the media suggesting that a number of players are looking for ways out of the club, and Van De Ven is a star that many of the big clubs are very much interested in signing.
As reported by Matt Law of the Telegraph, Tottenham are eager for Micky van de Ven to sign a new contract. However, it is believed that the Dutch defender is “frustrated with the current situation at the club”, so he is hesitant to do so.
The 24 -year-old’s current contract does not expire until 2029, meaning this is far from an urgent situation, but he could push for a move away from the club and CHELSEA are reportedly very happy to make an offer.
The Blues have been spending some serious money over the last couple of transfer windows, but that back-line has been an issue for the club and they are on the lookout for a defender that can help drive the club forward.

I dont like to see Tottenham players linked with CHELSEA, but Van De Ven is one star that i would like to be signed. He is far to too for them and a move to the Bridge would give him the trophy challenges that he wants.
CHELSEA MAKES BARCOLA MOVES
There has been some shock reports in the media which have claimed that Chelsea are the latest Premier League club to enquire over the potential signing of Bradley Barcola this January transfer window
Barcola, who has been described as ‘one of the best wingers in the world’, was a key member of the PSG squad that won the treble last season, but this season he has found regular game time more difficult to come by, as Luis Enrique has preferred to use Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as his front three
That has made the player desire a move away from the French capital with a host of clubs said to be interested in his services including Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich all interested in a move.
According to TEAMtalk, CHELSEA are one of the many clubs to have held initial talks with intermediaries over Barcola to see if they can yet win the crowded race for his signature, but it is thought that any move for the 23-year-old will occur in the summer.
PSG are open to letting the attacker leave the club, but want to keep hold until at least the summer, as they would get the best price, and would be able to replace the Frenchman if he does depart.
IcChelseanews Says…
Barcola is far too talented to be sitting on the bench and watching his career pass him bye, so a move to another club probably needs to happen unless he can fight his way back into the side at PSG.
I would love to see the guy here at the Bridge
