Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Tino Livramento, Bradley Barcola and Marc Guehi that we think you may have missed…
Here is the latest Arsenal transfer news and speculation as there are now reports that the Gunners are very much interested in signing Tino Livramento from Newcastle United this January window.
Livramento, 21, left Stamford Bridge in 2021 after failing to agree terms on a new contract, eventually signing for Southampton. Since then, the defender has gone from academy talent to Carabao Cup winner, England U21 standout, and Newcastle first-teamer under Eddie Howe.
The ex-Chelsea full-back has continued to flourish this season under Howe, despite some dodgy performances from the Toon, and his performances have now reportedly caught the attentions of Mikel Arteta.
The Sun now report that ARSENAL are keeping tabs on Livramento ahead of a potential summer swoop, and they are reportedly ready to try and fend off Man City for a possible deal for the England star.
Mikel Arteta is more than happy with the defence that he currently has, but it has been claimed that the versatility and quality of Livramento is something that he would like to add to his squad.
IcFootballnews Says…
It is easy to see why the big clubs are interested in Livramento, he is a quality player that is developing very nicely into one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, he is ready for a bigger move is he wants.
However – at Newcastle he is at a club that loves him, he gets all the minutes he desires and is in a side that challenges for trophies and European Football, Tino does not need to rush his decision.
Newcastle will fight hard to keep their best players, so if offers do arrive for Livramento, we are sure that Toon board will not sell unless a crazy amount of money is offered, and to be honest, the player looks more than settled in the North.
BARCOLA MOVE MADE
There has been some shock reports in the media which have claimed that Arsenal are the latest Premier League club to enquire over the potential signing of Bradley Barcola this January transfer window
Barcola, who has been described as ‘one of the best wingers in the world’, was a key member of the PSG squad that won the treble last season, but this season he has found regular game time more difficult to come by, as Luis Enrique has preferred to use Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as his front three
That has made the player desire a move away from the French capital with a host of clubs said to be interested in his services including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich all interested in a move.
According to TEAMtalk, ARSENAL are one of the many clubs to have held initial talks with intermediaries over Barcola to see if they can yet win the crowded race for his signature, but it is thought that any move for the 23-year-old will occur in the summer.
PSG are open to letting the attacker leave the club, but want to keep hold until at least the summer, as they would get the best price, and would be able to replace the Frenchman if he does depart.
IcFootballnews Says…
Barcola is far too talented to be sitting on the bench and watching his career pass him bye, so a move to another club probably needs to happen unlesl he can fight his way back into the side at PSG.
ARSENAL would be a very good option for Barcola to make if he wants to challenge for trophies, but in terms of playing time, there are enough quality players at the Emirates to keep Barcola out of the side.
If he does leave PSG, he needs to make sure it is for a team where he can actually play, like Man United or Liverpool, they are probably the two top Premier League sides that need wingers the most.
GUEHI MESSAGE SENT
Sol Campbell believes that Arsenal should act on their transfer interest in Liverpool transfer target Marc Guehi and says the Crystal Palace defender would be a ‘top’ addition to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Marc Guehi has been in the transfer headlines for the past few months, as there has been constant speculation and rumours that Liverpool, Man City and ARSENAL are all very much interested in getting a deal done.
Liverpool have been linked with Guehi for the last few transfer windows, but they have not yet made their moves, and reports suggest Arne Slot will wait until the end of the season to make an offer for the England star.
But amid the speculation and rumours, Campbell believes that the Gunners would be foolish not to enquire about Guehi to add their wealth of options in the backline: ‘The back line is more interesting,’ Campbell told Sky Bet.
‘Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace is a top player. I know Liverpool are sniffing around him. That’s someone I would inquire about.’
Arsenal have been the best defensive side in the Premier League over the past three seasons, in large part down to the rock-solid partnership between Gabriel and William Saliba, and Campbell believes the two can go down as *ARSENAL*’s best-ever centre-back pairing.
‘To be a truly top centre-half pairing, you must play together for two, three, four, even five years,’ he said. ‘And you must win things.
‘You need to perform at a high-level week in, week out, across multiple seasons, then look back and say, ‘We achieved something’.
‘You can’t really compare partnerships until that happens. Potentially, Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba could be the best Arsenal have had, and among the best the Premier League has seen. But potential isn’t enough – you have to win.
‘Everything is there. I hope they go on to build an outstanding partnership over the next few years, win trophies and fulfil what they’re working towards.
‘You can play brilliantly and have a great relationship, but if you don’t win anything, something is missing.
‘That’s what you’ve got to do – play amazing, have a great relationship, win as well, and then look back and say, ‘That was an amazing time.’ Until then, it’s all about potential. Hypothetically.’
