Owen Cooper added a Golden Globe to his growing collection of accolades as he was named best supporting actor in a television series at the star-studded ceremony yesterday evening, January 11. The actress gained international recognition for his debut role playing a teenage murder suspect in the Netflix drama, Adolescence.

After finding out he had beaten tough competitors to win the prestigious award, Owen said: "Standing here at the Golden Globes does not feel real whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through.

"What started off as what I thought I might be ok at, I might be awful at, I took a risk and I went to drama classes, I was the only boy there, it was embarrassing but I got through it."

He added: "But I'm still very much an apprentice, I'm still learning every day, I'm still every day learning from the people sat in front of me who have inspired me. I wouldn't be here without you guys. This is mad, what is going on?”

The speech concluded as Owen said: "Bring on 2026. You'll never walk alone." The 16-year-old from Warrington has been vocal about his support for Liverpool Football Club since shooting to stardom last year.

In the third episode of Adolescence, a message can be seen scratched into a table Owen's character is seated at. He explained the this decision when at Anfield last season, he said: "So, Phil [Barantini, director] gave a pencil to all the crew and we could all draw something or write something. And I wrote 'LFC > MUFC' and it stayed in! Phil kept it in."

Linda Pizzuti Henry, wife of John Henry, Liverpool Football Club's principal owner, shared the acceptance speech from Owen to her own Instagram account as she praised the actor. She posted: "Owen Cooper closed his Golden Globes acceptance speech with You'll Never Walk Alone.

"YNWA Owen! Congratulations on Best Supporting Actor win for the remarkable show, Adolescence Owen Cooper (can't tag him, but sending." Fans also sent supportive messages following the incredible achievement of Owen.
