Liverpool are being linked with a move for one of La Liga and Real Madrid's superstars

It has been a thrilling weekend of action in one of the world’s most historic competitions. Holders Crystal Palace have been knocked out by National League North side Macclesfield Town while Manchester City beat League One side Exeter City 10-1 at the Etihad Stadium - in what has been a contrasting mix of results.

Palace’s shock defeat will certainly put Arne Slot on alert as he does not want to join the list of FA Cup upsets. Barnsley beat Liverpool on their last FA Cup visit to Anfield, as they recorded a 2-1 win on Merseyside in 2008.

The Reds spent £450m in the summer transfer window but did sell a large number of players too and they are still being linked with some new signings. The Reds would prefer to sign Marc Guehi on a free transfer in the summer but interest from Manchester City could force their hand.

The player himself could decide to remain at Selhurst Park and then be available for free when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.

While Guehi appears to be the main name linked with Anfield, reports coming out of Spain claim they are ready to break their club transfer record again.

Fichajes report that the Reds are prepared to submit a £156m offer for Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham. The midfielder was linked with a move to Anfield before deciding to join the Spanish giants back in 2023.

The 22-year-old is a firm part of the plans at Madrid, and they do not want to sell him. A £156m offer would be a club-record deal for Liverpool but the Spanish giants are resistant to selling, with the huge offer not moving the needle.

Bellingham is under contract at Madrid until 2029 and the La Liga giants hold all the cards.

The England international is widely considered to be one of the best players in the world. He was even praised by Barcelona gem Perdi, who said back in the summer: “Real Madrid have a lot of very good players. When Kylian Mbappe has the ball and is in a one-on-one, it is very difficult to stop him. And Jude Bellingham is really incredible. He combines physical strength with technical ability, which makes facing him extremely difficult.”
