Juventus are poised to offer the Federico Chiesa an escape route back to Turin with the Italian being consigned to another season on the bench at Anfield. With the 28-year-old struggling desperately for game time under Arne Slot, the Old Lady are preparing a formal offer to bring their former star home.

This season, the Italy international has been reduced to a bit-part role, managing only 469 minutes across 20 appearances—with just three starts to his name. Despite scoring two goals and providing three assists, he’s been consistently overlooked by Slot, even when injuries have ravaged Liverpool’s attacking options.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Juventus are now ready to make their move, with a formal offer expected to arrive at Liverpool in the coming hours. The Bianconeri are proposing a loan deal with an obligation to buy—but with a crucial condition that reflects their concerns about Chiesa’s fitness after his limited playing time.

Juventus want the buyout obligation tied to the number of appearances Chiesa makes, rather than an automatic purchase clause. This structure would provide insurance against his physical durability and allow Juve to assess whether he can rediscover his best form in a familiar environment where he previously thrived.

The loan formula itself will remain unchanged, but negotiations center around when and how the permanent transfer would be triggered. Juventus are seeking guarantees about Chiesa’s integration into their system before committing fully to his return.

But according to the report, the deal faces two significant hurdles. First, Liverpool have no intention of letting Chiesa leave easily, despite his lack of minutes. Slot considers his attacking options already thin, and losing Chiesa—even temporarily—would leave them dangerously short.

Second, Juventus must wait for Salah’s return from the Africa Cup of Nations. With Egypt reaching the semifinals, next week becomes the decisive period for any Chiesa move. Liverpool won’t entertain losing Chiesa until Salah is back to provide cover.
