Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Juventus’ confidence about signing Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa.
Arne Slot hasn’t given the player the prominence mant believe he deserves at Anfield and that’s encouraged interest from elsewhere. Multiple Serie A clubs are keen, with Cheisa’s reputation having grown in Italy during his time at Liverpool.
Contacts between Juventus and Liverpool have been ongoing, with the player’s representatives in the thick of it. Chiesa isn’t forcing a transfer but sees a return to Turin as a good way to bring his career on track.
Italy potentially qualifying for the World Cup is also a factor. Whilst the Liverpool player has somewhat dodged the national recently, it would be odd if he’s not desperate to play at USA ’26.
Today’s TuttoSport, a Turin newspaper, reports fresh developments in the story.
Tuttosport state Liverpool will receive ‘formal communication’ from Juve in the next few hours about their approach for Chiesa. This will be done in the form of an official bid, which is ‘practically ready’.
Liverpool want to pause transfer for now
Initially, Juve planned to offer an initial loan with an option to buy. Now, they are raising the stakes to offer a conditional obligation to eventually take Chiesa permanently. This can help the Old Lady come close to Liverpool’s demands of a permanent transfer.
The 28-year-old remains keen on the switch and there is further optimism that a deal can go through.
The only major problem in the deal will be posed by AFCON. Liverpool want to wait for Mohamed Salah’s return before letting Chiesa depart. Egypt are now in the semi-finals of the tournament and this is delaying the Italy international’s move.
Despite this, TuttoSport are confident that the deal is progressing at ‘cruising speed’ and it should go through. Until it does, though, there’s always the danger of an issue arising or Juve having their attention caught by someone else.
