Man City academy graduate sidelined by Antoine Semenyo's arrival could leave the Etihad this…

Another promising Manchester City youngster has found himself on the fringes of Pep Guardiola’s squad - and desperate for an escape route.

Despite having an excellent academy, graduates seldom get the chance to establish themselves in the starting XI.

In fact, most players end up finding success elsewhere, such as Michael Olise, Kieran Trippier, Cole Palmer and Liam Delap. The only bona fide success story from the academy that stuck around at the Etihad is Phil Foden, although Rico Lewis is also getting regular first-team football.

Now, another graduate is keen for a way out, especially after Man City just brought in someone who pushes him further down the pecking order.

The impact of Antoine Semenyo’s £65m arrival from Bournemouth was felt immediately, with the Ghana international picking up a goal and assist in the 10-1 drubbing of Exeter City in the FA Cup last weekend. But it’s fellow attacker Oscar Bobb who perhaps feels sidelined by his arrival.

The 22-year-old has made 47 appearances for Man City since his graduation, picking up three goals and four assists through what have largely been cameo appearances off the bench.

Bobb, a Norway international with 16 caps for his country, is now looking for a new club to call home - and like fellow Man City academy star Jadon Sancho before him, could well end up in the Bundesliga.

Posting on X, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg said: “Antoine Semenyo is understood to be lined up to take the squad place of Oscar Bobb, who could still move in January. Talks are ongoing.

“Borussia Dortmund are monitoring the situation and are fully informed about all the details. More clubs are keen on Bobb.”
