‘Biggest rival’ – Manchester City make contract offer for January arrival

Bayern Munich face a huge threat from Manchester City in the race for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi, according to Fussball Transfers.

The centre-back’s contract expires in June and Oliver Glasner has confirmed his player won’t sign an extension at Crystal Palace. That was expected despite repeat Eagles efforts to secure a renewal.

Guéhi’s situation and profile make him attractive to ay big club needing to add acentral defender Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid are among his suitors.

Liverpool tried to secure Guéhi in the summer, but the London club put their foot down at the last minute.

FT report the England international is an option for the Bundesliga winners. They are aiming to sign him for free, after his Crystal Palace contract runs out.

Bayern Munich face the real risk of missing out on Guéhi as FT claim Manchester City have already presented a contract offer to him.

Four days ago, the Italian media reported Bologna’s Jhon Lucumí is on Manchester City’s radar. That looked like an intriguing option for the Premier League side, and the chance of a reasonably priced transfer.

Despite Guéhi’s contract expiring in the summer, the likelihood is that Lucumi would have still been a cheaper option in January. However, the Bologna player picked up an injury in his last match isn’t expected to play again this month.

His chances of a winter market exit look over. That comes after he narrowly missed out on a move to Sunderland in the summer.
