Man Utd and Chelsea feature: The 10 clubs in world football with the most shirts sold in 2025

Summary

One European club became the first to ever top three million shirt sales worldwide in 2025.

Europe dominates the list, but Inter Miami, Boca Juniors and Flamengo show South America and MLS potential.

Star signings fuel sales: Mbappe, Yamal, Messi and Ronaldo drive massive jersey demand.

In the modern game, footballing success is measured by more than just trophies and league positions. Global reach, fan engagement and commercial power now play a huge role in defining the sport’s biggest institutions, both on and off the pitch. A study by Euromericas Sport Marketing, as reported by AS, has taken a deep dive into shirt sales.

One of the clearest barometers of worldwide appeal is shirt sales, and the clubs that sold the most in 2025 have now been revealed. European football once again rules the roost, with six teams on the list hailing from Europe’s top five leagues, while one Asian side, one North American club and two South American giants also feature.

10 Al Nassr

It doesn’t take rocket science to understand how Al Nassr have gone from relative nobodies in world football to a commercial juggernaut. In 2025, 925,000 of their 1,281,000 shirt sales came through Cristiano Ronaldo alone - accounting for 72 per cent of total sales since the former Manchester United and Real Madrid legend arrived in Saudi Arabia in 2023.

His transfer was intended to spearhead an influx of European talent to the Middle East, and that vision has largely played out. Sadio Mane has also likely contributed to Al Nassr’s shirt-sale dominance across Asia, though the club will be keen to convert their off-pitch success into silverware as they continue to trail rivals such as Al Hilal in that regard.

9 Chelsea

Winning both the Club World Cup and the Europa Conference League within a matter of months undoubtedly played a major role in Chelsea’s commercial success in 2025. Their constant churn of new signings has also helped, with the likes of Estevao and Joao Pedro quickly becoming popular names on the back of the blue shirt.

Chelsea rank above Arsenal and Tottenham on this list, and given their success beyond domestic honours, the Blues have reason to ask whether they are London’s biggest football club. Those in the northern reaches of the capital may argue otherwise, but sustained shirt-sale success - despite Arsenal often being hailed higher for their Adidas kits - suggest Todd Boehly and co. may have a point.

8 Flamengo

Flamengo

No country in the world is as football-mad as Brazil, and with Flamengo the nation’s most successful club, it comes as no surprise they rank among the top shirt sellers - especially in a year that saw them lift a fourth Copa Libertadores and a ninth top-flight title.

The Maracana-based giants fully capitalise on their vast global reach, boasting around 65 million social media followers. Add to that Rio de Janeiro’s status as one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, and it’s little wonder travellers often leave with a piece of red-and-black memorabilia to mark their visit.

7 Manchester United

Even though Manchester United suffered their worst-ever Premier League finish in 2024/25, ending up 15th, and subsequently parted ways with Ruben Amorim at the turn of 2026 due to continued substandardness, they remained English football's top shirt sellers.

Bruno Fernandes led the way as their best-selling name on the back of the Adidas kit, while new signings Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko likely drew plenty of attention as well. The Fergie-era glories may feel a distant memory on the pitch, but off it, young fans around the world continue to dream of one day making the pilgrimage to Old Trafford.

6 Boca Juniors

Argentina's biggest club, Boca Juniors, are the other South American team to feature on this list, and a lot of the reasons given for Flamengo's place in the study can likely be given to the Buenos Aires giants, too.

Their popularity also stems from its working-class roots in Buenos Aires' La Boca neighborhood, creating a strong identity, coupled with immense success, legendary players like Maradona, an iconic stadium (La Bombonera), and the passionate, almost religious following in the fierce Superclasico rivalry with River Plate, making them "Half the Country Plus One" (La Mitad Mas Uno) in fan numbers.

5 Inter Miami

Much like Ronaldo has driven Al Nassr’s commercial success, a large part of Inter Miami’s shirt-sale boom can be credited to Lionel Messi. In 2025, he scored 35 goals and provided 24 assists in 35 MLS appearances, proving that while he is the greatest footballer of all time, he is also still one of the very best players in the world right now.

In fairness to the David Beckham-owned club, though, the Messi signing isn’t their only commercial masterstroke. Inter Miami’s pink-and-red branding has quickly become iconic, and it’s clear the club has invested heavily in building not just a team, but a globally recognisable brand and image.

4 Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich are far from a one-man team. On paper, Vincent Kompany has assembled something close to a super squad, one built with a clear aim of chasing a seventh Champions League title. Harry Kane leads the line in an attack that also features Luis Diaz, Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala, while Manuel Neuer remains an insatiable presence between the posts.

Widely regarded as one of the best sides in world football right now, Bayern’s form speaks for itself. They have scored a remarkable 93 goals in just 26 matches and suffered only a single defeat - a brand of football that even the game’s harshest critics cannot ignore, and keeps their club shop packed to the rafters.

3 Paris Saint-Germain

Paris is synonymous with fashion, and the French are renowned for their chic sense of style. Combine that reputation with Paris Saint-Germain’s historic sextuple under Luis Enrique last season, and it is a perfect storm for shirt sales.

Les Parisiens’ crowning moment was their first-ever Champions League triumph, delivered in scintillating fashion with a record-breaking 5-0 victory over Inter Milan. That statement win placed the French giants firmly in the global spotlight, and commercially, they are now reaping the rewards, even if they have moved past their days of signing big name players like Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar in favour of young and hungry talent.

2 Barcelona

No player sold more shirts in 2025 than Lamine Yamal, who is rapidly establishing himself not only as Lionel Messi’s natural heir, but also as one of the top three footballers in the world right now. His meteoric rise has gone hand in hand with Barcelona’s resurgence under Hansi Flick.

Last season, La Blaugrana completed a domestic treble and have already added to their trophy haul this term with a Spanish Super Cup triumph to usher in 2026. Yet, while their success has sparked envy from their Clasico rivals, Barcelona still cannot match Real Madrid’s commercial muscle.

1 Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe celebrating after Real Madrid score against Barcelona

Real Madrid shattered every previous record to become the world’s best-selling football club by a wide margin in 2025. Over the last 12 months, with figures finalised in November, Los Blancos sold a staggering 3,133,000 jerseys worldwide - marking the first time any club has crossed the three-million threshold.

Their best-selling player was, unsurprisingly, Kylian Mbappe. The French superstar claimed the European Golden Shoe and broke Ronaldo’s record for most La Liga goals in a debut season. But, even if he wasn't plying his trade at the Bernabeu, Los Blancos' position as the biggest club in world football would have remained unchanged, and they would have still been high up in this ranking.
