76ers veteran Kyle Lowry says he plans to sign a one-day contract with the Toronto Raptors before retiring.
One of the best Toronto Raptors players of all time, Kyle Lowry is spending the 20th—and probably final—season of his career with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Lowry has appeared in only five games this season for the 76ers, averaging just 8.5 minutes per game, and has taken on more of a mentor role on the team.
Explaining his role this season, Lowry said he has already embraced it, and it’s been fun so far.
“It’s been stress free. It’s been fun. The thing about being in this type of role is it’s a challenge,” Lowry said, via TSN. ”You’ve got to find ways to challenge yourselves."
“The challenge for me is to help these guys every single day, be into the game plan, understanding the game plan, understanding what we want to do as a team.”

Earlier in his career, Lowry said he would never accept a role as a benchwarmer or an unofficial coach just to reach his 20th NBA season. Looking back now, though, he said things have changed.
“Really? I lied," Lowry joked.
“I think in the game of basketball, you’ve got to be able to take yourself out of it sometimes, and be able to say, ‘OK, how can I pay it forward a little bit?’ he said. “I’ve always been the guy that wanted to pay it forward.”
As much as Lowry is enjoying what could be his final NBA season, he confirmed there is one more team he’d like to sign with before officially retiring.
“My goal and I’ve committed to this and I never go from what I say, I will sign a one-day contract and retire as a Raptor,” Lowry stated. “That has not changed.”
