Man United issue statement after Liverpool-themed incident adds to FA Cup woes

It has been difficult being a Liverpool fan at times this season, but it pales in comparison to the misery Man United fans have been put through over the past decade.

Liverpool’s fierce rivals are set to have their most uneventful season in over a century after crashing out of the FA Cup against Brighton on Sunday.

That leaves just the league to play for following an upset against Grimsby a few months back — how the mighty have fallen.

Why won’t Liverpool follow Man United’s lead and SACK Arne Slot?

After yet another disappointment, it got even worse for United fans after posts from their captain’s X account in the hours following the final whistle.

Bruno Fernandes hacked and Liverpool reminder posted

As if they needed any further woes, some quite provocative posts from the United captain’s account added insult to injury on Sunday night.

Bruno Fernandes’ X account became a hotbed of United negativity, and it became clear that someone had taken over control.

Of all the now-deleted posts, the one that will have stood out to someone of a Liverpool persuasion was a picture we have all seen a hundred times.

A throwback to that famous day almost three years ago, when the Reds inflicted a historic punishment on their old foes at Anfield.

Following this post, and others criticising the INEOS ownership, Man United released an official statement on X.

They wrote: “Bruno Fernandes’s X account has been hacked. Supporters should not engage with any of the posts or direct messages.”

A day to forget for United fans, for a few reasons.

Liverpool’s standing compared to Man United tells the story of our season

There are those who would say United are in crisis right now. After sacking Ruben Amorim, their fortunes have not improved and this season now feels like a formality rather than an opportunity.

It doesn’t reflect well on Liverpool, then, to be just three points ahead in the Premier League table.

Arne Slot continues to defend poor performances, but the fact is that it’s not justifiable for the reigning champions to have won less than half of their games to this point.

Is winning the FA Cup enough to keep Arne Slot in a job beyond 2025/26? If not, why? 🤔

Liverpool’s ten-game unbeaten run suggests we could be set for a turnaround in results, but those draws need to be turned into wins, and we absolutely need to create more distance between us and a club in crisis like Man United.
