'You can tell': Martin Keown issues clear Liam Rosenior warning to Chelsea ahead of Arsenal clash

Having been given somewhat of an easy start as Chelsea manager with an FA Cup clash against Charlton, the pressure ramps up for Liam Rosenior as he prepares his side to face Arsenal.

Of course, defeat at The Valley would have been unforgivable, but Rosenior’s men got the job done with an easy 5-1 win. Rosenior became the first Chelsea manager to win his first game since Antonio Conte.

But after facing a side struggling at the bottom of the Championship, Chelsea and Rosenior now take on the best side in the country. There is pressure on Chelsea to get a result at home to Arsenal, as well.

The Blues need a result if they are to stand any chance of going to the Emirates in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final and progressing. Arsenal icon Martin Keown has thrown fuel on the fire.

Martin Keown thinks Liam Rosenior is ‘full of himself’

The Chelsea boss has earned praise for his work in the media. Gary Lineker likes the way Rosenior has handled himself in front of the camera and behind the scenes, Simon Jordan is a big fan of Rosenior.

Speaking to TalkSPORT (12/01, 12.05PM), Keown spoke of Rosenior’s confidence and thinks the gaffer is “having himself” ahead of Wednesday night’s clash between Chelsea and Keown’s former side Arsenal.

“I think he carries himself well. He’s very confident, I do feel he’s having himself, you can tell. Very confident. It’s now what he does with the job. Great opportunity against Charlton to step into the job.

“Now it steps up a level, the semi-final of the League Cup. There’s no fear with this manager, he will see this as an opportunity. But it has to go well, very quickly,” Keown told Jim White and Jordan today.

Injury news ahead of Arsenal semi-final is a positive one

Rosenior had not spoken to the media following Saturday evening’s win, and with Charlton the first of six games in 18 days, there is no room for potential injuries. Rosenior was asked for team news on Monday.

The Chelsea manager confirmed there are no new injury concerns following the win over Charlton. But Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto and Reece James will be given time to prove their fitness ahead of the clash.

Rosenior made eight changes to his side for Charlton, after watching Chelsea lose at Fulham. There are likely to be a raft of changes on Wednesday night too with Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto likely to start.

The odds are stacked against Chelsea despite home advantage, with the Blues winning just one of the last 13 meetings between the two teams. But, Chelsea have drawn the last three matches at Stamford Bridge.
