Liverpool confirmed XI vs. Barnsley: Ngumoha starts in strong lineup

Arne Slot has named a strong, rotated side for Liverpool’s FA Cup third-round clash with Barnsley, with Rio Ngumoha among those brought into the starting XI.

Ngumoha makes his first start since the 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup in October, with Slot taking fewer chances this time around.

The 17-year-old is one of six changes from the midweek draw at Arsenal, but a number of key players keep their places with a sense that this may be Liverpool’s best chance of silverware this season.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is brought in for Alisson, with the No. 2 goalkeeper starting behind a back four of Jeremie Frimpong, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

Liverpool’s midfield is comprised of Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai.

And Ngumoha lines up in attack alongside Federico Chiesa and Cody Gakpo, with Florian Wirtz dropping to the bench to join the fit-again Hugo Ekitike.

The Reds will play Brighton at home in the fourth round if they secure victory over League One side Barnsley.
