La Liga giants Barcelona have on Monday confirmed the imminent arrival of João Cancelo at the club.
This comes after the Portuguese touched down in Catalunya’s capital on Monday, to undergo a round of medical scans and tests.
As per a statement across Barcelona’s official website and social media platforms:
‘João Cancelo arrived in Barcelona at lunchtime on Monday. The Portuguese full back, still an Al Hilal Saudi FC player, passed the relevant medical and physical tests at Barcelona Hospital with the with signing to make him a blaugrana to come on Tuesday.’
Cancelo is for his part set to put pen to paper on loan terms at the Spotify Camp Nou through the summer.
The 31-year-old has been brought in to provide some much-needed depth in the full-back positions in Hansi Flick’s squad.
The move of course marks a reunion between the parties, after Cancelo also spent the duration of the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Barcelona.
