Grizzlies receive concerning update regarding possible return for a potential Ja Morant trade

The Memphis Grizzlies are ready to trade Ja Morant, as the past year has been a conflict between him and the organization. However, what they get in return for him might not be what they expect.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the Grizzlies’ potential return for a Ja Morant deal may be even worse than what the Atlanta Hawks got for Trae Young. For reference, Young was sent to the Washington Wizards for Corey Kispert and C.J. McCollum.

“Shams reported that Memphis is looking for young players & multiple picks for Ja. Good luck with that. Because the feedback that we got on Ja wasn't any move favorable than the feedback that we got on Trae. As a matter of fact, in some cases, it was even worse,” MacMahon stated.

On top of his antics, Morant is having a down year this season. He is averaging 19 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game in 18 games played in the 2025-26 season.

Usually, he’s a 25 PPG guy, but the broken chemistry between him and Memphis has led him to stop caring or trying.

Due to that, the Grizzlies' wanting a big return for him might not happen. However, whoever does get him might be pleased with the product, as he might bounce back in his new home.
