Liverpool v Barnsley - Emirates FA Cup Third Round
Liverpool edged past Barnsley to progress in the FA Cup
Liverpool were forced to sing for their supper as they edged past Barnsley 2-1 in the FA Cup third round.
The Tykes were quick out of the gates and hit the post through Davis Keillor-Dunn after barely 30 seconds, rather stunning the Reds.
It was the hosts who took the lead, though, by way of a long-range Dominik Szoboszlai thunderbolt.
He soon turned antagonist, though. After Jermie Frimpong put Liverpool two clear, Szoboszlai produced an incomprehensible error as he lost the ball in the box, allowing Adam Phillips to halve the deficit seconds before the break.
The Tykes continued to rally through a tightly-contested second-half but could not get the better of Giorgi Mamardashvilli, and substitutes Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike eventually found the back of the net late on to kill the tie off.
The Reds will host Brighton & Hove Albion in the fourth round.
