According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Lakers reached out to the Warriors about Kuminga during last offseason’s restricted free agency and are continuing to monitor his status as he becomes eligible for a trade on January 15.

"The purple-and-gold’s known preference at this deadline is to acquire a true 3-and-D wing with size—someone who can provide point-of-attack resistance on the perimeter as well as shooting," Fischer reports. "That said, the Lakers, according to sources, did contact Golden State about Kuminga during the summer standoff in restricted free agency."

"I’m told the Lakers have continued to monitor Kuminga’s situation while casting a wide net to find help in a very limited wing market," he adds.

Several names have emerged on the Lakers’ forward target list, including New Orleans Pelicans duo Trey Murphy and Herbert Jones. However, Kuminga could be the most exciting addition for Los Angeles as the team looks to strengthen its roster and boost its Western Conference championship hopes.

This season, Kuminga has appeared in 18 games for the Warriors, averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in roughly 24 minutes per game.
