Liverpool injury update on Rio Ngumoha.

Arne Slot has provided a Liverpool injury update on Rio Ngumoha after the victory over Barnsley.

The Reds secured a 4-1 triumph over the League One outfit in the FA Cup third round at Anfield. The first half wasn’t straightforward, although Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong put Liverpool ahead before Adam Phillips reduced the deficit.

The home side dominated the second half but had to wait until the closing stages before substitutes Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike wrapped up the win.

Ngumoha was handed just a third start of the season. The 17-year-old winger saw plenty of the ball but was forced off in the 73rd minute when clutching his hamstring. However, Slot revealed that Ngumoha was only suffering with cramp rather than pulling a muscle.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Slot said: I assume and expect it’s cramp. Expect Premier League game more intense than this one. Nice for him to make 70 minutes but it is still very hard work to be ready for 90 in the Premier League but that is completely normal.”
