Joan Laporta offers update on Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s Barcelona future amid Girona transfer talk

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has hinted that Marc-Andre ter Stegen could stay with the club for the rest of the season amid speculation about a move to Girona.

Laporta was asked about Ter Stegen after the Spanish Super Cup win and said the veteran could stay on.

“Ter Stegen has a contract and if he is comfortable and wants to he will be with us,” he told RAC1.

”With the three goalkeepers we have, the squad is covered and it has to be like that in such a demanding season.”

Staying at Barcelona may well hurt Ter Stegen’s chances of being Germany’s No. 1 at World Cup 2026, but a transfer to Girona is complicated due to his high salary.
