In the team's initial injury report, the Blazers have ruled out their rising star for Tuesday's clash in Golden State.
Avdija notably sustained a lower back injury in the closing minutes of the Blazers' 123-114 Sunday loss over the New York Knicks. After grabbing a rebound, he immediately grabbed his lower back and hobbled off the court to the locker room.
He didn't ultimately return to the game, finishing the evening with 25 points, five boards, four assists and three steals in 38 minutes.
In his postgame presser, interim coach Tiago Splitter expressed concerns about Avdija's injury. But on his end, the Blazers star dismissed any negativity around his sudden back complication.
Avdija has been the driving force of the Blazers' rise this season. He is putting up a sensational year, averaging career-highs in points (26.1) and assists (6.9) with 7.1 rebounds per game.
This would mark the first absence of the season for Avdija. Either Jrue Holiday or Caleb Love will fill in for his vacant starting spot in facing the Warriors.
