Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert is set to lose a massive paycheck following his latest flagrant foul, with the incident carrying both competitive and financial consequences.

Gobert picked up his sixth flagrant foul of the season during the fourth quarter of Minnesota’s game against the San Antonio Spurs after committing a hard foul on Victor Wembanyama. The call pushed him past the NBA threshold, resulting in an automatic one-game suspension that will keep him out of the Timberwolves' upcoming matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The biggest impact comes off the court. According to Bobby Marks, the suspension will cost Gobert a six-figure sum from his salary.
“The NBA announced that Rudy Gobert has been suspended 1 game for reaching 6 flagrant foul points. The suspension will cost Gobert $201,149,” Marks reported on X (formerly Twitter).
Despite the setback, Gobert has been productive for Minnesota this season, with averages of 11 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game while anchoring the team’s defense.
The Timberwolves remain fourth in the Western Conference with a 26-14 record as they continue their push toward the postseason.
