Crystal Palace are already said to be eyeing up a possible Oliver Glasner replacement ahead of the summer.
Crystal Palace are already said to have their eyes on a new manager as they prepare for the possible exit of Oliver Glasner in the summer. Glasner has worked wonders at Selhurst Park, guiding the Eagles to their first-ever major trophy and European qualification.
Still, there is no shortage of respect for Glasner at Palace, and rightly so given the stability and progress he has managed. Glasner is out of contract this summer, though, and there aren’t any clear signs that the Austrian will pen a new deal.
This summer could see Glasner seize his opportunity to land a big move, and from a selfish point of view, it may be the perfect time for him to do so. Not only is Glasner out of contract, but Marc Guehi will be leaving the club this summer, and it’s going to be increasingly difficult for the club to keep hold of Jean-Philippe Mateta, Adam Wharton and other stars.
Glasner is currently the favourite to be the next Tottenham manager and the third favourite to land the next Liverpool vacancy.
Palace eyeing a replacement
A period of change could be upon Palace, but to their credit, the London club have shown an ability to manage departures with excellent recruitment over the years.
Managerial appointments can be more tricky, though, but Palace are already reportedly sounding out their options. According to Fichajes, Getafe boss Jose Bordalas is of interest, with the 61-year-old expected to move on at the end of this season, and it’s reported he is near the top of Palace’s list.
Bordalas has been with Getafe in his most recent spell since 2023, keeping the club steady with a modest budget, and he also kept them steady in LaLiga during his first spell, which lasted from 2016 to 2021, before his short spell at the chaotic Valencia. The veteran boss also guided Alaves to promotion to the top tier before he first arrived at Getafe.
Bordalas is known for having hard-hitting, physical teams who specialise in the dark arts. His no-nonsense brand of football has caused many a big team problems in La Liga over the years.
