Aston Villa make €60m bid to sign in-form Barcelona star in January – Report

FC Barcelona have been in red-hot form since the end of the November international break and recently pipped Real Madrid to the Spanish Super Cup title. Hansi Flick has his team playing brilliant football, and the goals keep coming from all directions.

Incidentally, the Catalan giants’ highest-scoring player this season so far is not Robert Lewandowski or Raphinha. Instead, it is Ferran Torres, who has taken over that mantle and tops the goalscoring charts for Barcelona.

Now, according to Fichajes, Premier League club Aston Villa has submitted a €60m bid to sign Ferran Torres in this January transfer window. This is not the first time the Midlands club has expressed interest in the Spanish forward.

SEVILLE, SPAIN - DECEMBER 06: Ferran Torres of FC Barcelona celebrates scoring his team's fourth goal, completing his hat-trick, during the LaLiga EA Sports match between Real Betis Balompie and FC Barcelona at Estadio La Cartuja on December 06, 2025 in Seville, Spain.

Since his arrival from Manchester City a few years ago, Ferran has established himself as an important squad player for Barcelona. This season, he has taken a step forward and looked to establish himself as the starting no. 9 ahead of Robert Lewandowski.

There are aspects of Ferran’s game that continue to frustrate, but his goalscoring cannot be understated. In a system built for attackers to thrive, the Spaniard continues to get himself into excellent positions to score.

All things considered, despite a significant financial offer from Aston Villa for Ferran, FC Barcelona should not be considering this sale. The Spaniard has an important role to play, not just for this season but beyond as well, and let us hope the club makes the right decision and retains his services.
