Director of Women’s Football, Marisa Ewers has opened up and revealed her delight at the news that Aston Villa have completed the signing of Oriane Jean-Francois from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old joined CHELSEA from Paris St-Germain in 2024 and Villa’s fee is set to be a club record sale for the Blues.
The France midfielder has struggled to get regular game time at Chelsea, while Villa have shown ambition this season, bringing in Arsenal’s Jenna Nighswonger on loan until the end of the season earlier on Saturday.
And after seeing Villa get a transfer deal done, Director of Women’s Football, Marisa Ewers said on the Aston Villa website: “This is another signing that strongly supports our ambitions as a club.
“Oriane impressed throughout the European Championships as a starter for France, consistently performing at the highest level.
“We believe she will add immediate quality and further raise standards within the group.”
IcFootballnews Says…
This is a great move for the midfielder to make and we are not surprised to see that Chelsea have allowed this move to happen, they need to make some space in the side and letting some stars leave if the best thing to do.
Jean-Francois should get more game time at Villa, and hopefully she will make the impact the Villians need her too. This will also give her the chance to prove herself in the best Womens League in the game.
But as for CHELSEA, they will look to add some players to the squad before the close of the transfer window in just a few weeks time as they will want to make sure their squad is ready for some trophy pushing towards the end of the campaign.
