It feels like Arne Slot is fighting for his life to remain as Liverpool manager for the remainder of the season.
The Dutchman simply hasn’t been able to get the Reds going this season, and even a few positive results have done little to change the view of the coach.
Liverpool fans wanted Slot sacked last year, but talk of a dismissal midway through a season was played down.

The Merseyside outfit have since gone on an 11-game unbeaten run, but all is not well at Anfield.
There is talk of a falling out with Richard Hughes while, despite not losing since November, the Reds’ recent performances are putting pressure on the manager.
Liverpool given perfect Arne Slot replacement
The verdict now feels pretty unanimous regarding the 47-year-old and his future at Anfield.
Liverpool fans want Slot gone, with their only issue previously being that a top-quality replacement would be hard to find mid-season.

A valid concern, given what is happening at Manchester United right now after Ruben Amorim was let go.
But FSG have now been gifted the perfect replacement in the form of Liverpool legend, Xabi Alonso.
Yes, his stint at Real Madrid did not go as planned, but the Spaniard showed at Bayer Leverkusen that, when dealing with such huge egos, he is an excellent manager.
Liverpool initially wanted Alonso to replace Jurgen Klopp back in 2024 when he was still managing in the Bundesliga.

Why Xabi Alonso didn’t join Liverpool before Arne Slot
However, the ex-player decided not to take the job, explaining why in a previous interview.
He said: “All these decisions, they need to be thorough. You need to really think about them. And it was more about what I had, not what I’m missing.
“For sure, my bond with Liverpool is there and it’s still there. So there’s no, any kind of issue with that.”
Over a year later, Alonso is now out of work, and there doesn’t seem to be a valid reason for him not to join Liverpool.
Whether it’s in the near future or at the end of 2025/26, it feels like Slot’s time at the club is coming to an end.
From Alonso’s perspective, he no longer has that special connection with Leverkusen that saw him stay in Germany when previously approached by the Reds.
Even FSG, who may have been wary of mid-season sacking when there are fewer coaches available, should now be looking to capitalise on Real Madrid’s actions and make a change before another team tries to poach their ex-star.
