"Been told..."- Sky Sports journalist says Liverpool are"urgently"looking to make key signing

**Liverpool are “urgently” looking to sign a replacement for the injured Conor Bradley, according to a significant new claim from Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.**

The Reds have had bad luck in the fitness department this season, with Bradley ruled out for the season after injuring his knee away to Arsenal in the Premier League last week.

It was a cruel blow for the Northern Irishman, as he looks to kick on and reach his potential, cementing his place as Liverpool’s first-choice right-back in the process.

Many supporters feel a new signing is needed to make up for the loss of Bradley, and writing on [_X_](https://x.com/Plettigoal/status/2010799324683198948?s=20), Plettenberg said that Liverpool are looking to sign someone to fill the void left by Bradley in January:

_“Understand Liverpool are urgently searching for a replacement for Conor Bradley, who will be out for several months with a knee injury. Various options are being assessed for the current transfer window. Been told that Julian Ryerson is currently not a candidate for LFC.”_

**Do Liverpool need to sign a Bradley replacement?**

----------------------------------------------------

Not signing a right-back this month certainly feels like a risk for Liverpool, with the same applying to the centre-back situation, following Giovanni Leoni’s season-ending knee injury of his own.

Jeremie Frimpong is the only proper right-back for the Reds – even he played as a wing-back for Bayer Leverkusen – with the likes of Joe Gomez, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones auxiliary options there.

Granted, Bradley will be back in the summer, so Liverpool don’t want too many options, but his injury problems are becoming a cause for concern, and the club will need to weigh up if he is the long-term solution in that position or not.

He has all the tools to be a superb player as the years pass, but availability is arguably the most priceless asset in any footballer, and he isn’t providing that regularly at the moment.

For now, it feels more likely that Liverpool won’t delve into the transfer market in any position in January, according to the reliable David Orsntein of [The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6963068/2026/01/13/transfer-latest-manchester-united-liverpool-aston-villa-arsenal-january-window/), but that feels like a massive risk by FSG.
