David Prutton believes the arrival of Toby Collyer from Manchester United represents a smart piece of business for Hull City, especially given their transfer restrictions.

City are working on a loan deal that will bring the 22-year-old from Old Trafford to the MKM Stadium for the remainder of the Championship season, five months after coming close to sealing a deal in the summer.

The Tigers held talks with Collyer after agreeing a deal with United, but the midfielder opted to join West Brom before that move was cut short last month.

"Hopefully you get a player that's a decent age, 22, getting over to a City side that's shown broadly, I think that it's a good club for loanees, isn't it?", he told the 1904 Club podcast.

"There's not many that have come that have meandered off the back of it, any worse for wear. I think he's someone that would fit. I think there'd be a hunger, or you'd hope there'd be a hunger for making up for lost time over the first half of the season, and if the finances fit, great. From what I've seen of the player, from what I've heard of the player, young, hungry, ambitious, hardworking. Fits everything that Jakirovic would want from a player in that particular bracket."

Elsewhere, Prutton had his say on the highly anticipated FA Cup clash with Chelsea next month, which sees a return to the club for ex-player and manager Liam Rosenior, early on in his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

"It's been great to see him go into the job, and I'm intrigued to see what reception he gets. I can't think for one second it'd be anything untoward, but that sense of what 18 months has done in his professional life and how that's changed.

"It's a strange one because we were all questioning at the time, Liam moving on, but by hook or by crook, the owner's got the football that he wanted, albeit with a, a potentially disastrous season in between it all, so, it, I would like to think it would be one of, of, of a bit of harmony, and one that for City, talks of free hits and all that type of stuff, it's one that they should absolutely relish if you've got a full contingent. And the type of spikiness that we've seen this season from City, I think there's a potentially awkward 90 minutes for Chelsea coming up, I think."
