Newcastle United are a mere 180 minutes away from gracing Wembley once more in their quest to defend their Carabao Cup title. The Magpies, who triumphed over Liverpool to secure the trophy in 2025, remain contenders this year as the tournament reaches the business end.

Goals either side of the half-time break from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak were instrumental in securing Eddie Howe's team a 2-1 victory at Wembley, ending a lengthy drought for silverware. While Isak has since moved to Liverpool, Burn and his team-mates old and new are pursuing of another title.

Manchester City pose the next challenge for Newcastle, with a two-legged semi-final determining which team will advance. The first leg will be hosted by Newcastle, and supporters will have the opportunity to witness the clash without charge.

The first leg of the Newcastle United vs Manchester City semi-final is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13 at 8pm at St James' Park. Both teams will be vying to take a lead into the return leg, set to take place at the Etihad Stadium on February 4 and also kicking off at 8pm.

As part of an agreement with the EFL, a select number of matches in this season's tournament will be free-to-air on ITV, in addition to Sky Sports. The broadcaster has already televised several games in the competition, including Manchester United's unexpected second-round loss to Grimsby Town and Newcastle's quarter-final triumph over Fulham.

Supporters will have multiple options to watch Newcastle United versus Manchester City through their usual Sky Sports or ITV services. The fixture will be broadcast across ITV1, STV1, Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Ultra HDR, while those in the UK can additionally stream the encounter through ITVX, Sky Go, STV Player or NOW TV.

"As part of the continued deal between Sky Sports and ITV, the broadcaster will give UK football fans the chance to watch free-to-air coverage of select Carabao Cup and EFL matches," ITV announced back in July, ahead of the start of the new season "A total of 20 matches will be broadcast by ITV in the 2025/26 season, made up of 10 Carabao Cup ties and 10 EFL selections."

Of those 10 Carabao Cup fixtures, seven were shown before the turn of the year, with Newcastle versus Manchester City representing the eighth. The return leg of the second semi-final, a London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea, will similarly be free to air, while the final can also be viewed on ITV1.

Live radio commentary will be provided via BBC Radio 5 Live, as well as the respective local radio. The show will begin at 7pm, with plenty of pre-match coverage before the game kicks off.
