Report: Marc Guehi's wage demands shared, Liverpool target would match Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool have been trying to secure the services of Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi since last summer.

The Premier League champions made a £35m move for the defender last year, which was swiftly turned down by the Eagles.

Now, with the January transfer window open, the prospect of Guehi moving to Liverpool has once again become a talking point.

However, the Reds have been joined in their pursuit of the stopper by a number of other Premier League clubs.

Manchester City and Arsenal want Guehi at some point in 2026, with it thought Liverpool and the Gunners would prefer a summer move once he becomes a free agent.

Guehi likes Liverpool more than Man City, but it remains to be seen if the Sky Blues can get a deal over the line in January.

What might help their case is if the Manchester outfit can meet the centre-back’s reported wage demands.

According to journalist Alex Crook, the Crystal Palace ace is ‘seeking a wage of around £200,000-a-week’.

Guehi is thought to be relaxed about his future, but should a team want to complete a deal in January, the Eagles would reportedly want a fee upwards of £35m.

Should Liverpool move ahead with their pursuit of the stopper and offer him £200,000-a-week, it would make the 25-year-old one of the club’s highest earners.

Liverpool player wages 2025/26

As expected, Capology names Mohamed Salah as the highest earning player, taking home a base salary of £400,000-a-week following his contract extension last year.

Liverpool captain and long-time club servant Virgil van Dijk is second, netting £350,000-a-week.

The current British transfer record, Alexander Isak, is said to be earning £280,000-a-week at Anfield following his summer move.

Somewhat surprisingly, Cody Gakpo (£250,000-a-week) is fourth, followed by Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz (both £200,000-a-week).

As a result, Guehi would become the joint-fifth highest earner at Liverpool if his reported wage demands are met.

But given that he is Premier League proven, an England international, and the Reds are desperate for centre-back depth, that is probably a fair price.
