Chelsea battled to secure the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United last summer, but he could now face even more competition at Stamford Bridge following a fresh transfer claim. Just five months after signing Garnacho, Chelsea are already back in the market for another winger.

It has been reported that the Blues even made an enquiry for former Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo before he eventually joined Manchester City for £64million. Semenyo's mix of power and technique makes him dangerous both in transition and against deep‐lying defences, which is said to be the characteristics Chelsea are looking for in the market.

That instant, game‐changing spark Chelsea have often lacked from their wide players. The Athletic claims the Blues have 'already shown' that adding another attacker is firmly on their agenda this year, with the aim of easing the burden on Cole Palmer.

In addition to a new winger, the report notes that Chelsea would also look to accelerate their plans to sign a midfielder and a defender now rather than waiting until the summer, if the right opportunities arise.

Both Garnacho and Jamie Gittens have struggled to find the confidence and consistency needed when handed chances in the first team.

With another attacker potentially on the way soon, Garnacho could soon face increased competition at Chelsea - a situation he encountered similarly at United after the fallout with Ruben Amorim.

Before his switch to Chelsea, Garnacho was seen as a future star at United, but the relationship between the player and the club eventually soured.

Chelsea swooped in for the Argentinian in August, shelling out £40million following his disagreement with former United boss Amorim.

Upon leaving Old Trafford, the winger confessed that parting ways wasn't hard. He even suggested that departing United was a necessary step for his growth.

When questioned if he had any regrets, Garnacho simply said: "No."

He further explained: "Sometimes in life you need to change things to take a step forward or improve as a player.

"It was the right moment, and the right club. So it was an easy decision."

Last season, Garnacho started 23 out of a possible 36 Premier League matches, but concerns about his attitude ultimately hindered his progress.

Prior to his move to Chelsea, he had been relegated to United's 'bomb squad' and excluded from Amorim's pre-season plans.
