Everton could spark a domino effect within the Premier League with their pursuit of this January target.

Everton have set their sights on Arsenal defender Ben White this transfer window, which could trigger a chain reaction within the Premier League.

The Toffees are desperate to bring in new options at right-back and White has become their latest transfer focus. Having conceded more goals than they have scored so far this season, David Moyes and co are looking to tighten up their defence, starting with a solid and confident right-back.

White is an attractive target as he can also play at centre-back, but signing him at this halfway point in the season could prove difficult.

Everton shortlist Arsenal right-back Ben White

Football Insider has reported that Everton are ‘eyeing a move ‘ for White and are ‘open’ to discussing a deal for his transfer this month.

The 28-year-old has made just five Premier League appearances so far this season and has been an unused substitute on ten occasions. While he is clearly not a favoured starting option for Mikel Arteta, it won’t be a straight forward transfer pursuit for Everton.

The report claims it could be difficult to convince Arsenal to cash in at this stage in the season but there is a potential domino effect move Arteta can pursue to justify the sale. The Toffees aren’t really looking to wait until the summer either, as their right-back problem has become a priority focus.

Everton could trigger Arsenal transfer chain reaction

While Everton are looking to sign White, Arsenal have their eye on Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento. The Magpies full-back has been identified as a summer target for the Premier League leaders but his current club aren’t willing to part ways with the first team regular.

Newcastle have made it a priority to tie Livramento down with a new contract, in attempt to keep clubs like Arsenal at bay when it comes to transfer talk. Eddie Howe’s side will be reluctant to see the 23-year-old go, if Arsenal do submit an offer and Livramento expresses his desire to move on.

Having Livramento on the books will only further push White down the pecking order at the Emirates, which is why these two potential transfers would be heavily connected if they came to fruition. However, both Arsenal and Everton may need to hold fire until the summer.

Livramento picked up a hamstring injury during Newcastle’s FA Cup clash against Bournemouth and the outcome is not a positive one. New updates claim that the right-back could be out for up to eight weeks following his scan results.

If his recovery goes well, a return in March has been predicted but that’s still a large chunk of time to be without a key player. It also makes it all the less likely a January deal for him to join Arsenal will come to fruition.

Everton’s interest in White may still trigger a domino effect of transfer but it will likely need to wait until the end of the season before any serious talks can take place.
