Leeds United and Nottingham Forest were linked with Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas last summer.
Kostas Tsimikas is attracting interest from the Premier League, reports suggest.
The Liverpool defender is currently on a season-long loan at AS Roma. Tsimikas departed Anfield last summer after being deemed surplus to requirements. The arrival of Milos Kerkez for £40 million pushed Tsimikas down to third choice in the pecking order. The Greece international has been second fiddle to Andy Robertson after joining the Reds from Olympiacos in 2020.
While Tsimikas joined Roma hoping for regular minutes, he has been a bit-part player in the Italian capital. So far this season, he’s started just four times for I Giallorossi in Serie A. Tsimikas featured from the outset in Roma’s 2-0 win over Sassuolo last time out but, according to Corriere dello Sport, he was booed off the pitch by home fans when substituted in the 63rd minute.
There have been suggestions that Roma will look to end Tsimikas’ loan. However, Liverpool are unlikely to agree to that unless they do not suffer financially as it is unclear whether there is a break clause. Aston Villa are unable to send Harvey Elliott back to Anfield for that reason.
Schira posted on X: “Two #PremierLeague’s Clubs have shown interest in Kōstas #Tsimikas, who is currently at #ASRoma on loan from #Liverpool but the Greek fullback is not central in #Gasperini’s Plans and so he could leave in January’s transfer window.”
Tsimikas did not make an appearance for Liverpool in the 2025-26 season, so he would be able to represent another European team. Because Elliott played for the Reds before joining Aston Villa on summer transfer deadline day, he cannot represent another outfit in Europe. The MLS in America is reportedly an option but Elliott is not keen.
Tsimikas is under contract at Liverpool until 2027. As things stand, he will return to Arne Slot’s squad for pre-season training in the summer. Speaking to The Athletic last year, Tsimikas was asked if he could rejoin Liverpool.
He said: “You never know. The most important thing for me is to be healthy, to train hard, to play more games. Next year is a different story for me. I want to be successful, I want to win things. Only God knows what will happen in the next year.
I miss the city. I lived there for five years. I love everything in Liverpool. They have a special part of my heart. The people are very kind, some of the kindest I’ve ever met in football. “They’d always try to support the team, in good, in bad, they would always do their best to try to help you.
“I want everything for this club, because from day one, I was fully committed there. I was the Greek Scouser and I always will be, I’ll keep it for my whole life.”
