Barcelona bring in Ederson Castillo

La Liga champions Barcelona have brought one of South American football’s most highly-regarded young talents to the club on a trial basis.

This comes amid confirmation of Ederson Castillo making his way to Catalunya’s capital.

Castillo, for his part, is a 17-year-old midfielder, currently owned by heavyweights Quito in his home country of Ecuador.

The starlet has long been considered a potential star in the making, enough to give rise to a first-team berth despite his tender years.

A number of European clubs are understood to have expressed an interest in bringing Castillo across the water with a view to next season, amid an ongoing battle for his signature.

And as alluded to above, early this week, one such suitor have positioned themselves at the front of the queue to strike a deal.

As per a report from **[Diario Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/mediocentro-ecuatoriano-prueba-barca-125640933)**, Barcelona have reached an agreement with both Quito and the midfielder over a move to Spain.

As much comes with a view to an initial trial at youth level.

Should Castillo go on to sufficiently impress, he could then be signed on a permanent basis, before joining up with Barca Atlètic.
