Raptors interested in Domantas Sabonis trade, but there's a catch

Out of the Raptors' rumored trade interest in the Lithuanian star big man, the Kings are reportedly uninterested in accepting players with current long-term deals

In his NBA Insider Notebook livestream for Bleacher Report, Jake Fischer revealed that the Toronto Raptors are interested in Domantas Sabonis, but a potential deal stands challenging as the Sacramento Kings aren't willing to commit to players who have extended contracts.

"Sabonis has interest from Toronto, we've continued to report that, but it’ll be tricky to find an agreement, given that the Raptors, to my understanding, are really just trying to see what they can get for a combination of Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, and Jakob Poeltl," Fischer said.

"Meanwhile, the Kings do not want long-term salary on their books right now."

As Jakob Poeltl has been dealing with struggles and injuries this season, the Raptors have been consistently rumored to be canvassing the trade market for a center.

They are one of the prominent teams being linked to Dallas Mavericks star big man Anthony Davis, whose trade availability was reopened after it was decided that he wouldn't undergo a surgical procedure to fix his damaged left hand.

The trio of Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett and Jakob Poeltl at least have one more year left on their respective contracts with significant amounts. Aiming for flexibility to potentially start a new chapter of the franchise, the Kings' desire not to get long-term contracts is considerable.

As such, the wait continues on what might be next for Sabonis, as the Lithuanian star remains unavailable to play due to a partial meniscus tear.
