Chris Paul Shares NBA Retirement Update Amid 21st NBA Season

Chris Paul

Charlotte, North Carolina, USA; Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul (3) in a time out during the first half against the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center.

Fans are curious about how Chris Paul’s final season in the NBA will play out. Over the summer, Paul returned to the Los Angeles Clippers, his former team from 2011 to 2017. The veteran guard officially announced his retirement on November 22. However, his second stint with the franchise did not work out, and he was sent home by the Clippers after appearing in 16 games.

To complete his farewell tour, there have been rumors that the future Hall of Fame guard will be included in a deal. Unfortunately for CP3, that hasn’t happened yet. Paul is still with the Clippers and has been separated from the team since December 3.

On Tuesday’s episode of “Good Sports” with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson, Paul appeared as a guest. One of the main questions by Hart was what his plans are to continue his 21st season.

“I’m working out, training every day,” Paul said.

“With the way all that stuff went down, I think for me, I just love this game so much that I don’t want it to end like that. I’ve enjoyed the time for sure, but I don’t know yet. I don’t know what team I hope to finish with.”

The 12-time All-Star is looking forward to continuing to wrap up his career the way he wants it. Paul hasn’t closed the door to returning this season and has his well-deserved farewell tour. But that will depend on how the Clippers will handle him in the upcoming February 5 trade deadline.

The 2006 Rookie of the Year is one of the league’s most iconic stars and deserves to be honored in his final year. He’s a decorated athlete who was selected in the All-NBA teams 11 times, a nine-time All-Defensive team member and a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team.
