SGA and OKC finally responded with a dominant dub over the Spurs.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sees nothing special in the Oklahoma City Thunder's victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
If there's one thing important for the reigning league MVP on Tuesday night, it's how he and his Thunder group bounced back tremendously from doubts.
"You kind of have no choice. We all knew when we woke up this morning, this team had got the better of us the last few times we played them," he said in his postgame interview for NBC. "That doesn't happen to this group.
"It doesn't happen a lot. I can't remember the last time it happened. But yeah, uncomfortable feelings and adversity are where you find gold to find who you are. We showed it tonight. Not from here, it's just about getting better. Tonight wasn't our Super Bowl. It wasn't anything else another game on a 82-game season."
But tonight, they exorcised their demons and responded with conviction. The Canadian superstar led the way with 34 points, while Jalen Williams poured 20.
After a tightly contested first two quarters, OKC exploded in the third quarter with 40 points and led by as many as 24 to send a resounding statement over the Spurs.
Many are already looking ahead to what could unfold in their regular-season finale on Feb. 4 in San Antonio, and whether this growing rivalry can carry into the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
But right now, Gilgeous-Alexander's priority with the reigning champs is to keep becoming better.
"We got to find ways to get better," he said. "We could have done things better tonight, and we'll continue to do so and learn from it."
