Liverpool look to have a busy month ahead as Arne Slot eyes recruitments to bolster his squad for the second half of the season. There's been little movement at Anfield in the January window thus far, with their only bit of business coming in the form of the arrival of Mor Talla Ndiaye last week.
However, the 18-year-old is thought to be a star for the future, and is expected to team-up with the U21s as he arrives on Merseyside. After a summer of big spending, it remains to be seen whether the Reds will pick up where they left off in the current window - especially after a disappointing term by all accounts.
As things stand, the defending champions sit fourth on the Premier League table, lagging a table-topping Arsenal by 14 points after a patchy start to 2025/26. Off the pitch, meanwhile, the rumour mill is churning with regards to potential arrivals and exits from the north west...
Liverpool to receive second Chiesaoffer
As per Calciomercato, Juventus are currently preparing a significantly improved offer for Federico Chiesa. The Italian forward has failed to make much of a mark at Anfield since joining the Reds in 2024, racking up just 35 appearances under Slot in the years since.
This season has been particularly problematic for the 28-year-old, failing to see consistent minutes despite Mohamed Salah being away at AFCON, as well as injuries to Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.

As a result, the Old Lady are reportedly looking to bring Chiesa back to Turin, initially submitting a loan proposal with an option to buy. As a result of the offer not satisfying Liverpool, it is said that Juventus are now looking to propose a loan with an obligation to buy.
£52m Real Madrid battle lays ahead
Elsewhere, it appears as though Liverpool are about to enter a bidding war for Kees Smit. The AZ Alkmaar star has impressed in the Eredivisie as of late, leading the Reds to monitor his situation.
However, the bad news is that Real Madrid are also supposedly keen on the midfielder. Said to be valued at an eye-watering £52m, whoever manages to sign the wonderkid could end up paying in excess of that to beat the other to the punch.

It comes as Liverpool have lacked consistent control in their engine room this season, with Smit coming as a possible solution to their issues alongside the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Newcastle have also been linked with the 19-year-old in recent times.
Marc Guehi update
Liverpool were on the brink of signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace as the summer transfer window drew to a close, only for the deal to fall through at the 11th hour. However, it appears as though the Reds are ready to pick up where they left off this month to push a move over the line.

In a stunning revelation, it is reported that Guehi holds Liverpool as a preferred club this month, despite interest from the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. However, Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol claims that there is "no favourite" in the race to secure the Palace skipper at present, despite the player already knowing 'exactly how he'd fit in' at Liverpool.
Despite his contract at Selhurst Park expiring this summer, the Eagles are said to expect a fee of around £35m to allow Guehi to leave early. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are happy to meet that valuation, or risk waiting until the summer to snap him up on a free.
