Last week, after the Cherries had beaten Spurs in midweek with a Semenyo stoppage time winner, the Ghanaian headed up to City for a medical.
But on the evening of the Spurs game, Redknapp said on Sky Sports that he had heard it was not a foregone conclusion, and there could still be some interest from Liverpool.

That was proved wrong, as Semenyo headed to City as planned and completed his move on Friday.
Now, Redknapp has admitted it was dad Harry who had supplied that erroneous information.
Speaking on Sky Sports last night in the Newcastle vs Man City League Cup coverage, Redknapp said: "I heard there was going to be a twist! And there wasn't! I'm not going to lie, Mark [Chapman, presenter], sometimes you get information from people, and you expect better.
"On this occasion, my dad called me, he was at Bournemouth when Semenyo scored that incredible goal, and he said 'I think there might be a twist and he might be going to Liverpool'.
"I thought 'I'm going to say that on air'. I thought I had turned into Fabrizio Romano for five seconds, and I got it completely wrong."
