Kevin Durant reacted to a social media post showing empty Houston Rockets stands in the first quarter, explaining that it has always been this way, saying the fans are fashionably late for games and that it’s a completely different picture later in the game.
Houston Rockets superstar Kevin Durant reacted to a social media post calling out Rockets fans for the empty seats at the Toyota Center during the start of games.
NBA meme account BrickCenter posted a clip from the beginning of last night’s Rockets-Bulls game, where the seats were practically empty during tip-off, captioning it: “The Rockets have Kevin Durant and the seats are empty.”
Durant quickly responded after the game, saying the story is completely different later on, noting that fans in Houston are always fashionably late.
“We’re fashionably late down here, champ,” Durant said. “Check back around mid-2nd quarter and it’s a different picture. Been that way in Houston since I’ve been in the League.”
The Rockets, led by Durant, who scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, went on to win the game against the Chicago Bulls 119–113, improving to a 23–14 record this season, good for sixth place in the Western Conference.
The 37-year-old Durant, in his debut season with the Rockets, has been as good as ever, averaging 26.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.
