Opposition manager - michael carrick
United will have a new face leading the team in the technical area on Saturday after Ruben Amorim left the club at the start of January.
Michael Carrick has been appointed as interim manager and will be supported by Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Travis Binnion, Jonny Evans and Craig Mawson.
The Englishman played 464 games for the club and after a short spell in the first-team coaching staff under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar-Solskjaer, took on the role of head coach at Middlesborough.
Danger men
Bruno Fernandes remains a key player for the Reds and the Portuguese midfielder leads the statistics for most assists (eight) recorded by a United player this season.
Bryan Mbuemo will be back in contention for the derby following a spell away with Cameroon for AFCON.
The 26-year-old forward has racked up seven goals and one assist in 17 appearances in his debut campaign for United and his pace and strength will be one for City to keep a close eye on.
Pep Guardiola preview
The City boss will address the media on Friday 16 January from 12:30 (UK).
You can follow along live on mancity.com and our official app, with a full written recap available shortly after its conclusion.
Last time out
City will take a two-goal advantage back into our Carabao Cup semi-final home leg after a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United.
January signing, Antoine Semenyo, opened the scoring on 52 minutes before Rayan Cherki added a second deep into added time while Semenyo had a goal ruled out before that after a lengthy VAR check.
Previous meeting
We last faced the Red Devils at the Etihad in September as we came out 3-0 winners and claimed the bragging rights of Manchester in the 197th derby game.
Phil Foden scored a superb header to put us ahead in the 18th minute rounding off the first of two assists from Jeremy Doku.
City’s Belgian winger then played in Erling Haaland for City’s second, before the striker ran from his own half to score our third – with the Norwegian also hitting the post in between.
