Wrexham set to welcome key duo back against City

The Welsh striker, who has netted 10 times since his move from Sheffield United in the summer, missed Championship wins over Blackburn and Derby as well as Wrexham's dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Premier League side Nottingham Forest last Friday with a hamstring issue.

But their top scorer is set for a return as City make the long trip to North Wales this weekend along with Manchester City loanee Kabore, who caused havoc at Carrow Road in Wrexham's 3-2 victory over the Canaries back in September.

Striker Sam Smith is also poised to feature despite limping out of their FA Cup win, but boss Phil Parkinson confirmed that Ollie Rathbone is a doubt alongside midfield duo Max Cleworth and Matty James who weren't included in the squad.

"Issa's back in training this week so we're just monitoring him and Kieffer's back in full training as well," Parkinson told the [Wrexham Leader](https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/sport/25762090.wrexham-players-monitored-ahead-norwich-game/?ref=ed_direct). "Sam's fine, it was only a slight injury.

"Ollie's groin was tight so we've had a scan, it's nothing serious but we will just monitor him.

"Max had an ongoing problem over Christmas with his groin so we've had to pull him out of training for a few days and Matty James had to see a specialist on Friday about his back, but it looks like that's settling down.

"Lewis Brunt and Aaron James are in full training so they've going to have a full week's training, and Danny Ward's in full training this week as well."

Wrexham bounce into Saturday's clash having won all of their last four Championship matches and buoyed further by FA Cup progress, which has set up a fourth-round clash against City's rivals Ipswich.

That Championship uplift over a perfect festive period has got supporters dreaming of a fourth successive promotion, but Parkinson is keeping his feet on the ground ahead of Saturday's game.

"We've certainly put ourselves in a stronger position after the Christmas period," he said.

"It's four out of four over Christmas and I'm so pleased for our supporters because that support we had today was amazing.

"When you look at the costs over the Christmas period, for the supporters to come out in their numbers today was brilliant and I'm so pleased we sent them back happy."
